The “Youth Science and Technology Village” program, co-organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the Macao Science Center, and Galaxy Entertainment Group, is dedicated to promoting vocational and technical education for its participants. As one of the strategic partners, Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) provided a two-day work experience activity for the Science and Technology Village participants at the CEM building, offering them a close-up look at the work environment and a deeper understanding of industry positions.
The first day of the activity was attended and supported by Macao Science Center Representative Director U Hon Sang and Director of Education and Exhibits Leong Si Chong, along with CEM’s Director of Human Resources and Sustainability, Hellen Lok, among others. During the event, Lei Chi Chio, Senior Manager of the Transmission and Distribution Department/ Network Strategy and Policy Unit, explained power and energy knowledge to the participants and shared insights on careers and prospects in the power industry. Additionally, Safety Engineers Kou Sio Wai and Fong Chak Wang from the Human Resources and Sustainability Department introduced basic occupational safety and health knowledge and demonstrated the use of personal protective equipment, inviting participants to experience wearing the protective gear. Finally, the participants visited CEM’s 8,000 square foot training center, where Lam Lai San, Power Engineer from the Transmission and Distribution Department/ Network Strategy and Policy Unit, introduced various facilities, giving them a close-up understanding of power equipment and the work environment.
The participants showed great interest in power engineering during the activities, actively asking questions to CEM engineers and technical staff to learn more about power knowledge, industry entry requirements, career paths, and prospects, preparing them for future career planning, creating a rich atmosphere of learning and exchange.
