The exhibition aims to deepen the public’s understanding of the uniqueness of living organisms and to foster an appreciation for the distinctive natural species found in Macao. It also encourages the public to explore and value these species, beginning with understanding and acceptance, leading to respect for life and the natural environment.
Curated by Dr. Leong Chi-Man, an entomologist from Macao, the exhibition showcases numerous physical specimens of significant scientific value, generously provided by Dr. Leong Wa, a biologist from Macao, the Special Collection Unit of the University of Macau Library, and the Alexander House (private collector). Furthermore, the exhibition has received support from the Zhejiang Museum of Natural History, featuring exquisite digital versions of natural history illustrations to enhance the audience’s visual experience.
From April to June, a “Coral Conservation” dedicated exhibition area is set up in the “Deep Sea Garden” special exhibition. This area highlights the latest achievements of the “Reviving Our Corals” initiative, a collaboration between the Coral Academy of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the WWF Hong Kong. It also showcases the artificial coral community restoration, underscoring the importance of safeguarding marine ecosystems.
