On October 22, Sio Hon Pan, a Board member and Executive Committee member of Macao Science Center Limited and Curator of Macao Science Center, along with Oscar Leong Si Chong, Director of Education and Exhibits, leads a group of 50 participants from the “Youth Science Village” STEM Talent Training Program, jointly organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), Macao Science Center, and Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”), to Beijing for a five-day study trip titled “Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Macao SAR—Youth Science Village Beijing Study Tour.” The itinerary included activities such as the “Macao Youth Visit the Motherland” exchange program, foundational training on cybersecurity defense and attack techniques, and anti-fraud awareness activities for minors. Participants also visited landmarks such as the China Telecom Museum, the China Scientist Museum, the China Science and Technology Museum, and the Palace Museum to gain a comprehensive understanding of the nation's advancements in cybersecurity technology and foster patriotic sentiments.
The “Youth Science Village” participants attended a three-day certified course on foundational cybersecurity defense and attack techniques at the Beijing headquarters of Qi-Anxin Technology Group. They became the first high school students in the nation to obtain the Qi-Anxin Security Competence Certification. The training covered core concepts of cybersecurity, identifying system vulnerabilities in simulated environments, and learning various cybersecurity technologies and protective measures. Through theory, demonstrations, and practical exercises in a simulated system, the participants enhanced their understanding of cyber defense and attack techniques, developing skills to tackle common cyber threats and detect and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities.
Additionally, during the trip, the participants joined the “Macao Youth Visit the Motherland” exchange program, co-hosted by the Macao SAR Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, and the All-China Youth Federation, with the guidance of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council. This event was organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the Secretariat of the All-China Youth Federation, and the Preparatory Committee of Macao’s Youth Organizations. Through performances and expert sharing sessions, the participants learned about the nation’s development journey and remarkable achievements, fostering a sense of national identity, patriotism, and a sense of duty as young citizens of Macao.
The participants also engaged in the “Journey of Young Explorers” networking safety exchange activity organized by the Working Committee on Online Protection and Development for Minors of the China Internet Association. They listened to expert presentations by domestic prosecutors and information security engineers on various fraud tactics and received practical tips on fraud prevention. They also toured the China Telecom Museum to view historically significant telecommunication equipment exhibits, gaining insights into the history of the nation's communication technology.
The study trip broadened the participants’ horizons and significantly enhanced their understanding of national cybersecurity technology advancements, practical skills, and team spirit. With the strong support of the Education and Youth Development Bureau and GEG, Macao Science Center will continue to organize diverse study activities for the “Youth Science Village” participants, striving to nurture innovative talent with vision, capability, and patriotism.
