2025 FIRST® LEGO® League Asia Championship Successfully Concludes “Loop Loop Blue Heart” from the Youth Science and Technology Village Wins the “Engineering Excellence Award” in the Challenge Category
Jointly organised by LEGO® Education, the Organising Committee of FLL Greater China and the Macao Science Center, co-organised by Sands China Ltd., the World Class Tests (WCT) and the Tao Xingzhi Education Foundation, and supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the Macau Chinese Educators’ Association and the Macau Catholic Schools Association, the 2025 FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Asia Championship successfully concluded yesterday (10 August). The event brought together over 3,000 young participants from 400 teams representing 21 countries and regions, including Mainland China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Romania, Nigeria, and Kazakhstan. It is estimated that nearly 12,000 people, including contestants, coaches, judges, and accompanying persons, travelled to Macao for the competition.
After three days of intense competition, the team “FIRST” from Korea clinched the championship in the Challenge category, while the “Loop Loop Blue Heart” team, formed by members of the Youth Science and Technology Village, won the “Engineering Excellence Award” in the same category. Teams from Mainland China, “Le Le Long Feng Team” and “Jing Song Cheng Feng Po Lang Team” won the championships in the Explore and Discover categories respectively.
With the annual theme “Submerged in Deep Sea,” this year’s competition required teams to conduct in-depth research on the topic of marine ecological protection and provide practical and applicable solutions to related issues. Participants were tasked with building models using the designated LEGO® set, integrating programming technology to complete specific missions, and presenting their innovative concepts to the judging panel through posters and live demonstrations.
The Macao Science Center hopes to leverage the hosting of the FLL Asia Championship and other international science and technology innovation competitions to advance the internationalisation of STEM education in Macao, foster students’ innovative thinking and interdisciplinary application skills, and provide them with a platform to realise their potential, showcase problem-solving abilities and teamwork, while promoting exchanges between Macao and other countries and regions, and contributing to the cultivation of more science and innovation talent in Macao.
Officiating guests at the Awards Ceremony of the 2025 FLL Asia Championship included Mr. Wang Kanqing, Director of FLL Events in Greater China for LEGO® Education; Mr. Oscar Leong Si Chong, Controller of Education and Exhibits of the Macao Science Center; Mr. Troels Dyhrman, International Partnerships Director of LEGO® Education; Ms. Lam Iok Teng, Director of Community Affairs of Sands China Ltd.; and Mr. Leong Su Weng, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Macau Catholic Schools Association.
