Recently, Tencent Cloud unveiled a new list of “Tencent Cloud Valuable Professionals” (TVPs), with Sio Hon Pan, the Curator of the Macao Science Center, receiving this prestigious honor in recognition of his contributions to the popularization of artificial intelligence technology, cloud computing applications, and the advocacy for science and technology education. He is also the first recipient of this honor in Macao.
TVP is an esteemed award conferred by Tencent Cloud upon technical experts, with the objective of constructing a robust cloud computing technology ecosystem. It seeks to foster effective communication between Tencent Cloud and technical experts and users, while actualizing its aspiration of leveraging technology to make a positive impact on the world. Since its inception in 2018, this award has been bestowed upon over 270 technical experts spanning diverse cutting-edge technology domains, including big data, artificial intelligence, and blockchain.
Curator Sio Hon Pan has long been committed to advancing the establishment of an artificial intelligence general education system in Macao and has accumulated profound experience in science and technology education and interdisciplinary collaboration. This award signifies that the Macao Science Center’s endeavors in advocating for AI general education within the community has gained industry attention and recognition.
In alignment with the national “15th Five-Year Plan” which positions AI as the primary driver for fostering new productive forces, and the Macao SAR government’s policy of integrated development emphasizing” education, technology, and talent”, the Center has envisioned entering the “AI era where no one will be left behind”. Adhering to the principle of “Human-oriented, Tech for Good”, the Center has established an inclusive AI education ecosystem that caters to individuals of all ages, including the elderly, working professionals, students, and educators. The Center has devised a three-tiered community outreach strategy, encompassing “cognitive identification”, “tool application”, and “problem solving”, offering systematic and progressive courses tailored for different community groups. In addition, the Center regularly holds “AI Lecture Series”, inviting experts from industry, academia, research, and application fields to share with the public the cutting-edge advancements of AI technology, practical cases, and employment prospects. The AI general education is also further extended to the community by visiting elderly centers and day care facilities. By offering hands-on AI instruction to the elderly on practical functions like voice search, the “AI Lecture Series” have assisted them in adapting to smart living with confidence.
Moving forward, the Center will persist in enhancing collaborations with all sectors of society, promote the popularization and application of AI knowledge, infusing fresh energy into Macao’s science and technology education and talent cultivation.
