Macao Science Center Receives More than 32,000 Visitors in National Day Holiday Over 12,000 Admissions Are Recorded on October 1, Setting a New Single-day High for the Year

Macao Science Center recorded a total of more than 32,000 admissions during the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7 this year, a year-on-year increase of 57% from 2023. Admissions grew by nearly 13% compared with those in the same period in 2019. On October 1, the number of visitors exceeded 12,000, setting a new single-day high for the year. The Center has been organizing novel popular science exhibitions and activities, including the new science drama "Science Flash Mob - Meet Astronomers at MSC", the parent-child workshop themed on "Seeing the Forbidden City - Miniature Model", and the dome show Voyager 3D screened at the Planetarium, attracting many families and tourists.

Every Saturday afternoon this month, the Center will hold the parent-child workshop themed on "Seeing the Forbidden City - Miniature Model" at the FabLab. The workshop will introduce scientific stories related to ancient architecture as well as knowledge about palace life and entertainment, and demonstrate how to use simple materials to create a miniature model of ancient architecture for viewing holographic films. The workshop is now open for registration. Macao residents who register for the workshop through the Macao One Account app will receive tickets to the Exhibition Center and special exhibitions of Macao Science Center. Limited spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

A dome lecture on "Starry Night - Introduction to Shaw Prize of Astronomy 2024: Time-domain Astronomy" will be held at the Planetarium this Saturday (October 12) at 5 p.m. Mr. Sirius Lei, Director-General of Macao Astronomical Society, will introduce the significant contributions of the Shaw Prize in Astronomy 2024 laureate to time-domain astronomy and the scientific significance of studying variable or transient astronomical objects such as millisecond pulsars, gamma-ray bursts, and supernovae. No registration is required for the event. Free tickets will be distributed by the ticketing office on the day of the event.

The "Discover the Hall of Mental Cultivation" Digital Experience Exhibition is open until October 31 at Gallery 2 of the Exhibition Center. Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition and group bookings will be accepted. The advanced technologies such as motion-sensing interaction, 3D modeling, and virtual reality (VR) technology employed allow visitors to experience ancient court life and appreciate precious cultural relics.

Macao Science Center is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday regardless of public holidays, and is closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year's Eve. Please check the latest announcements on the Center's official website (www.msc.org.mo) and social media accounts for more event information and news.
