Free Admission to Macao Science Center Exhibition Center on November 10 in Celebration of the International Science Center and Science Museum Day
To mark the International Science Center and Science Museum Day, Macao Science Center will launch a series of science education activities throughout November. Highlights include the special exhibition “SCI-TECT-MOTION: Sports × Technology Carnival”, the exhibition “Century of Meteorology in Shanghai and Macao”, the full-dome film “Blue Planet Outside the Window: Space Travel”, the parent–child workshop “Decoding the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals”, and the astronomy education series “Starry Night”. On November 10, the official International Science Center and Science Museum Day, admission to the Exhibition Center will be free of charge. The public is invited to explore the wonders of science and enhance their scientific knowledge and understanding.
The special exhibition “SCI-TECT-MOTION: Sports × Technology Carnival” is currently on display in Gallery No.2 until January 4, 2026. Integrating augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies, the exhibition features interactive virtual sports experiences and digital installations, offering insights into first-hand intelligent, data-driven forms of exercise. It also delves into the principles of human movement and professional training through a scientific perspective. At the same time, smart venues and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are also introduced in this exhibition to showcase the advancements in safety and fairness in sports, highlighting the impact of technological innovation on the future of athletic development.
Running concurrently is the exhibition “Century of Meteorology in Shanghai and Macao”, themed “Meteorological Connections Across Time between Shanghai and Macao”. It highlights the “MAZU-Urban” intelligent early-warning system (Macao version), jointly developed by experts from both cities, and tracks the historical evolution of meteorological signal systems through archives and photographs. On November 2, 9, and 16 at 3:00 p.m., the Center will hold a parent-child workshop on “Decoding the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals”, allowing participants to understand weather signals, use programming techniques to simulate the hoisting of tropical cyclone signals, and create signal models using 3D printing technology. Registration is available via “Macao One Account” App, at MOP 150 per parent-child group.
From now until December 31, 2025, the Planetarium will offer free screenings every Sunday of the full-dome film “Blue Planet Outside the Window: Space Travel”. This film leverages the distinctive viewpoint of the full dome and the exceptional ultra-high-definition image quality to present computer-animated scenes depicting the entire process of China’s space station’s in-orbit construction. It also features exclusive highlights such as the detailed portrayals of the vertical docking of the spacecraft and the space station, and exclusive demonstrations of the astronauts performing extravehicular spacewalk, creating an immersive and unparalleled experience that transports you as if you were there in person. Tickets are available via “Macao One Account” App, together with a limited number reserved for on-site for walk-in visitors.
The astronomy education series “Starry Night” will take place at the Planetarium at 5:00 p.m. on November 9 and 23. On November 9, Hong Kong astrophotographer Mr. Cheng Koon Hong (Vincent) will deliver a talk entitled “Milky Way Astrophotography”, sharing his experiences of stargazing and astrophotography in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. On November 23, Lei Si Heng, President of the Macao Astronomical Society, will introduce the groundbreaking contributions to cosmology by the laureates in the 2025 Shaw Prize in Astronomy - Professors John Richard Bond and George Efstathiou, sharing their findings in cosmic microwave background, dark matter, and dark energy.
The Center will also present two joint activities in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Bureau in November. The first one is the ninth parent–child reading program “Wonderland of Science Picture Books on Friday”, held monthly from November this year to February next year at the Wong Ieng Kuan Libraries in Areia Preta Urban Park and Luís de Camõs Garden. The program aims to foster scientific curiosity and good reading habits among children and youngsters. Registration is open via “Macao One Account” App until October 26. The second one, AI × Classics: Multimedia Creation Workshop, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on November 22 in the multifunction room of the Bairro da Ilha Verde Library, offering topics such as AI technology application in transforming literary classics into visual albums and short videos, promoting creative integration between technology and literature.
In addition, the Center will launch a series of professional development courses for teachers in November, covering topics such as AI in education, maker courses, LEGO robotics programming, and multimedia production. Teachers and school staff are welcome to register through the “Teacher Training” section of the Center’s website.
Macao Science Center is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday regardless of public holidays, and is closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year’s Eve.
