Unlock Your Creativity in the World of Cosmetic Science!

Calling all high school students with a passion for chemistry and creativity! The Hong Kong-Macau Secondary School Cosmetic Formulation Competition 2026/27, proudly co-organized by City University of Hong Kong (Office of the Provost and Deputy President, Department of Chemistry), Hong Kong Society of Cosmetic Chemists, and The Cosmetic & Perfumery Association of Hong Kong, is your chance to showcase your skills, experiment with cutting-edge science, and bring innovative ideas to life!

    Design. Formulate. Innovate.

This year, the competition is bolder than ever. Instead of choosing from a fixed set of products, each team will design their own cosmetic product from scratch. Whether it is a refreshing facial cleanser, a nourishing skin-care lotion, or a beautifully crafted lipstick, the choice is entirely yours.

To help you get started, all participating teams will attend a mandatory workshop where you will learn the fundamental principles behind three major types of cosmetic products:

    • Surfactant-based products (e.g., cleansers, shampoos)

    • Emulsion-based products (e.g., lotions, creams)

    • Lipstick molding (e.g., lip balms, lipsticks)

Using a set of complimentary cosmetic ingredients provided by the organizers, your team will then develop your own formulation and present it to a panel of expert judges.

    What's It All About?

The competition is your platform to shine in science! This is your opportunity to:

    • Apply chemistry principles to real-world product development

    • Experience with formulation, texture, and function

    • Receive feedback from industry professionals and academics

    • Compete with schools across Hong Kong and Macau

Don't miss this unparalleled chance to contribute to the future of cosmetics!
