Precursor - Guo Shoujing's Astronomical Achievements vividly showcases the monumental astronomical accomplishments of Guo Shoujing, the renowned scientist of China's Yuan Dynasty. Guo Shoujing, a distinguished astronomer, hydraulic engineer and mathematician, co-authored the Shoushi Calendar, which remained in use for over 360 years and stands as the most outstanding example of ancient Chinese calendrical systems. While developing this new calendar, he invented over ten astronomical instruments including the Abridged Armilla, the High Gnomon, the Pole-observing Instrument and the Uranographic Model, while also organizing nationwide celestial observations. This movie innovatively employs modern visual techniques to express China's outstanding traditional culture and the achievements of ancient scientists.
