Under the guidance of the China Association for Science and Technology and the Social and Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, with support from the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the “Shining China, Creating a Technological Future” series exhibition is designed and produced by the China Science and Technology Museum and co-organized by the Macao Science Center and the Macao Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology. The exhibition will be held from today until March 2 at the Macao Science Center, showcasing the contributions of scientific and technological professionals in various fields over the past 75 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. This includes breakthroughs in key and core technologies and inspiring stories of their perseverance. The exhibition aims to disseminate scientific thought, advocate scientific methods, and promote the spirit of science, while encouraging the development of practical exploration skills, enhancing a sense of national identity, and fostering a sense of belonging.

This afternoon (13th), the opening ceremony of the “Shining China, Creating a Technological Future” series exhibition was held at the Macao Science Center. The officiating guests included Zhang Bin, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of the China Association for Science and Technology; Wong Ka Ki, Acting Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau; Mok Ian Ian, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Macao Science Center, Ltd.; Chui Sai Peng Jose, President of the Macao Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology; Ngan Lin Lei, Vice Rector of the Macao Polytechnic University; Professor Zhou Wanlei, Vice Rector of the City University of Macau; Carol Kei Wong, Director of the Office of the Rector of the University of Macau; Zhang Xiaoping, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences at the Macau University of Science and Technology; and Sio Hon Pan, a Board member and Executive Committee member of Macao Science Center Limited and Curator of Macao Science Center.

In his speech, Zhang Bin, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of the China Association for Science and Technology, stated that this exhibition showcases the scientific and technological achievements since the founding of the People's Republic of China. He expressed hope that visitors would not only gain a direct understanding of the development of China's scientific endeavors but also appreciate the core spirit and values embodied within. The Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of the China Association for Science and Technology will further strengthen its connections and services for Macao's scientific community, create opportunities for Macao's scientists to integrate into the national academic and innovation talent development system, and inspire confidence in innovation among scientists and young people. The aim is to foster broad societal support to help Macao integrate into the international development framework.

In his speech, Sio Hon Pan, a Board member and Executive Committee member of Macao Science Center Limited and Curator of Macao Science Center, remarked that the exhibition centers on major scientific and technological events from the past century of China's history. While these events occurred within different historical contexts, the spirit they embody transcends time and space, inspiring and motivating generations. The Macao Science Center hopes that by recounting the stories of scientists dedicating themselves to the great endeavors of serving the nation through science and building a strong scientific and technological foundation, the exhibition will promote the spirit of scientists among the Macao public, particularly the Daqing Spirit and the "Two Bombs and One Satellite" Spirit.

The “Shining China, Creating a Technological Future” series exhibition features three major sections: Bloodline of the Republic, Silent Thunder, and Heartfelt Dedication to the Nation. Through multimedia interactive exhibits, physical displays, and precious photographs, the exhibition highlights the nation’s perseverance and major achievements in oil and energy exploration, the development of the "Two Bombs and One Satellite," and the pursuit of cutting-edge technology. It showcases the modernization of China’s scientific and technological advancements. The exhibition also displays research achievements from Macao’s higher education institutions and products from scientific research enterprises, providing visitors with insights into Macao's development in innovation and technology.During the exhibition, a science theater performance titled The Core of Heaven and Earth: Stories of Chinese Scientists will be staged. The performance vividly narrates the life stories and remarkable accomplishments of Qian Xuesen, the "Father of China’s Space Program"; Li Siguang, the "Founder of China's Geomechanics"; and Xie Xide, the "Mother of China’s Semiconductors," through lively and engaging acting.
