Program for the Development of the Scientific Talent of “Youth Science and Technology Village” co-organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), the Macao Science Center (MSC) and the Galaxy Entertainment Group, has earlier organized some trainees to take part in the Greater Bay Area Youth AI & Cybersec Challenge, with a view to enhancing the ability of the youth to apply artificial intelligence and their awareness of cybersecurity. On January 20, the grand final of the event was held at HarbourChill in Hong Kong. Three teams comprising “Youth Science and Technology Village” trainees stood out from the 20 finalists and achieved excellent results. In the audience voting session, the team of Pui Ching Middle School, Instituto Salesiano and Kao Yip Middle School won the fifth place, and the team of Santa Rosa de Lima Secondary School, the Affiliated School of the University of Macau and Our Lady of Fatima Girls’ School won the third place. The team of Saint Paul School, Pui Ching Middle School and Kwong Tai Middle School won the first place in the Macao area.

The Greater Bay Area Youth AI & Cybersec Challenge lasted for more than four months and was divided into three stages, namely the preliminary round, the semi-final round and the final round. A total of 22 trainees of the “Youth Science and Technology Village”, among the 1,130 entrants, entered the final round of the competition and won awards. They are supposed to set up booths at the “Citywide Cyber Carnival 2024” to display their entries, introduce the design concepts, application scenarios, demonstration operations to the judging panel and on-site audience, and answer their questions. The winning teams will be selected based on the scores of the judging panel and the voting results of the on-site audience.

MSC is very encouraged and pleased with the achievements of the “Youth Science and Technology Village” trainees in the Greater Bay Area Youth AI & Cybersec Challenge, and hopes that the trainees will continue to work hard in the field of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity technology research and innovation. MSC hopes that this event will help the “Youth Science and Technology Village” trainees to broaden their horizons, promote exchanges and cooperation among technological elites from Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and nurture more cybersecurity talents for Macao in the long run.

The Greater Bay Area Youth AI & Cybersec Challenge is co-hosted by the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force and the Division of Macao Judiciary Police of the Government of Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR).
