Recently, the 2024 (20th) International Conference on Green Energy-efficient Building & New Technology and Products Expo was held at the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. Curator Sio Hon Pan of the Macao Science Center, along with Cheong Kim Fong, Head of the Facility Management and Sustainable Development Department, were invited to attend. This marks the first participation of the Macao Science Center in an international academic conference on green buildings since receiving the "Green and Low-Carbon" Science Education Base plaque in April 2024. At the conference, both of them were appointed as professional committee members of the Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies. They engaged in discussions with domestic and international experts and scholars on the latest technological achievements and development trends in green building and building energy efficiency, as well as technical paths for peak carbon and carbon neutrality in the construction field, sharing their experiences.
The International Conference on Green Energy-efficient Building & New Technology and Products Expo is currently the most renowned and professional forum and expo in the field of green building. This year’s conference theme is "Promoting High-quality Development of Green Buildings and Leading Green and Low-carbon Transformation in Urban and Rural Construction", focusing on the latest technological achievements, products, and application examples in green buildings, vertical garden buildings, smart buildings, healthy buildings, building energy efficiency, and green building materials. Deputy Minister Wang Hui of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development, Vice Governor Liu Yujiang of Henan Province, and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Zhengzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor He Xiong delivered speeches and presided over the opening ceremony.
In the future, the Macao Science Center will continue to deepen the content of green and low-carbon science education, integrating resources from various parties, and supporting schools to carry out green and low-carbon education through diversified projects. This will enhance students’ awareness and understanding of sustainable development and energy conservation and emission reduction issues, helping young people learn about the latest international and national environmental protection information and related industry developments, and cultivate more green technology talents for Macao and the Country. Other guests attending the 2024 (20th) International Conference on Green Energy-efficient Building & New Technology and Products Expo included: Chuck Chung Yin Albert, President of the China Green Building and Energy Saving (Macau) Association; Kin Hang Lei, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Sustainability at MGM; Chan Kuong In, Deputy General Manager of China Construction (Macao); and Zhu Chu Ka Kit, Green and Low-Carbon Professional Mentor at the Macao Science Center.
