Macao Science Center Has Been Awarded as the Outstanding Organizer of the 2023 National Science Day Macao Science Center's Three Science Education and Popularization Events Are Awarded by China Association for Science and Technology as Outstanding Events for National Science Day

Recently, the Office of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) issued the Notice on the Commendation of Relevant Organizers and Events for the 2023 National Science Day. A total of 1,465 organizations were awarded as outstanding event organizers, and 1,749 events were awarded as outstanding events for the 2023 National Science Day. This is the second time for Macao Science Center (MSC) to be awarded as the outstanding event organizer. MSC organized 25 science education and popularization events for the National Science Day, among which three events of the "Spirit of Chinese Scientists (Science Drama): Meeting Chinese Scientists in the Metaverse - Huang Danian", "'A Guided Night Tour of MSC" and "Youth Science and Technology Village - Study Tour of the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences" were awarded as the outstanding events for the 2023 National Science Day.

"Spirit of Chinese Scientists (Science Drama): Meeting Chinese Scientists in the Metaverse - Huang Danian" was awarded as the outstanding event for the 2023 National Science Day. This science drama is set up to coincide with the opening of long-term gallery (Gallery 10) on the theme of the spirit of Chinese scientists at the Exhibition Center. Through the interpretation of the actors, it tells the audience the story of Huang Danian, a strategic scientist and internationally renowned aerospace geophysicist who was once described by President Xi Jinping as "upholding the collective interests and serving the country with utmost sincerity", who gave up his favorable job offer abroad and devoted himself to China, which aims to encourage young people to learn and carry forward the scientist spirit of patriotism, dedication, and education of others.

"A Guided Night Tour of MSC", taken place at MSC in September and October this year, was also awarded as the outstanding event for the 2023 National Science Day. This event is one of the series of activities of the "Learning Platform for Parents" project organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau. It included visits to exhibitions and the Planetarium for viewers to learn about astronomy, watch science dramas, participate in parent-child workshops, and experience drone operation and robot programming, attracting 120 children aged 6 to 12 and their parents who have learned to apply STEM interdisciplinary knowledge to their daily lives. The event fostered the children's scientific and creative thinking.

The event of "Youth Science and Technology Village - Study Tour of the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences" is co-organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau and Galaxy Entertainment Group. The event arranged a visit to the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences of the Macau University of Science and Technology for nearly 100 Youth Science and Technology Village trainees to learn about the formation of the solar system, the advanced instruments and equipment of the laboratory, which successfully aroused the curiosity of the trainees, and assisted them in understanding the challenges of engaging in scientific research. The event enabled them to learn about the contribution of researchers in Macao to the country's aerospace science and technology endeavors.

In the future, MSC, with the full support of the Education and Youth Development Bureau, will continue to provide more high-quality science education and popularization programs and services, contributing to the cultivation of more scientific and creative talents in Macao and the enhancement of scientific literacy for the public.

Macao Science Center is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday regardless of public holidays, and is closed on Thursdays and Lunar New Year's Eve.
