Starting today, a new 3D dome show, “Solar Storms 3D” is available at the Planetarium of the Macao Science Center.
“Solar Storms 3D” will give audiences the chance, for the first time ever, to see the Sun up close in dazzling, high-definition 3D images. Stand above the Arctic Circle and witness the most brilliant auroras on Earth. Take a ride on a solar blast from Sun’s surface to Earth’s Magnetosphere. Witness the most powerful explosions in the Solar System – the coronal mass ejections, which equal to the force of a billion megaton nuclear bombs. And find out how these explosions on the Sun’s surface in particular the event in 2006, disrupt electronic equipment, create geomagnetic storms and influence weather patterns on Earth. Leading NASA scientists from the mission unveil these images and take us behind the scenes to tell the story of the Sun and why a greater understanding of this dynamic star is of crucial importance to us all.
Shown with the “Solar Storms 3D”, there will be a 3D Sky Show with the themes “Uncoiling the Spiral Shape” and “Touring the Extragalactic Cosmos”, thus the whole show last about 35 minutes.
This educational show is suitable for visitors with secondary school science background. All currently available 2D and 3D Dome Shows including “Dawn of the Space Age 3D”, “Cosmic Collisions” and real time 3D Sky Shows will be screened at the Planetarium. Visitors can obtain the latest show schedule from the Macao Science Center website and in the Center.
The opening hours of the Macao Science Center are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Sunday. The Center closes on Thursdays and Lunar New Year’s Eve and opens on public holidays. Visitors may take buses with route numbers 3A, 8, 10A and 12 towards Kun Iam Ecumenical Center to the Macao Science Center, and an underground carpark is available to all visiting public.
